The ABB TU846 (article number 3BSE022460R1) is a Module Termination Unit (MTU) designed for the redundant configuration of the CI840 and CI840A field communication interface modules, as well as for redundant I/O within ABB’s S800 I/O system and Freelance control systems. This passive unit provides connections for the power supply, two electrical ModuleBuses, and two CI840/CI840A modules. It also features two rotary switches for setting the station address (0 to 99). A ModuleBus Optical Port TB842 can be connected to the TU846 via a TB846 bus inlet. Four mechanical keys, two for each CI840/CI840A position, are used to configure the MTU for the correct module types. The unit is designed for DIN rail mounting and includes a latching device for secure attachment and grounding.
