ABB 5SHY3545L0009

Product Name

ABB 5SHY3545L0009 IGCT (Integrated Gate – Commutated Thyristor) Module

Product Description

The ABB 5SHY3545L0009 is a high – voltage and high – power thyristor – based module. It integrates a GTO (Gate – Turn – Off Thyristor) chip with an anti – parallel diode and a gate drive circuit, and is connected to its gate driver in a low – inductance manner externally1.

During the conduction phase, it functions as a thyristor, offering low – conduction – loss characteristics1. When a suitable forward trigger pulse is applied to the gate, the gate current injection forms a conduction path in the thyristor, allowing a large current to pass through3. In the turn – off phase, it exhibits transistor – like characteristics3. A reverse turn – off pulse applied by the gate drive circuit extracts carriers from the gate, quickly cutting off the anode current to achieve turn – off3. This module combines the stable turn – off capability of transistors with the low – on – state – loss advantage of thyristors1. It has the characteristics of high current – carrying capacity, high blocking voltage, high switching frequency, high reliability, compact structure, and low – conduction loss1. It is suitable for high – power electrical systems such as high – voltage direct – current (HVDC) transmission and flexible alternating – current transmission systems (FACTS)3. It can also be used in medium – power industrial drive devices and is widely applied in fields such as power transmission, power conversion, power control, and power protection13.

Product Parameters

  • Voltage – Current Capacity: Can handle high voltages and large currents, suitable for high – power applications. Specific voltage and current ratings may vary depending on the specific application and configuration, but generally, it can operate under high – voltage and high – current conditions3.
  • Switching Frequency: Has a relatively high switching frequency, which allows for efficient control of power conversion and can meet the requirements of applications that require rapid switching, such as in some high – frequency power conversion circuits1.
  • Conduction Loss: Exhibits low – conduction – loss characteristics during the conduction phase, which helps to improve the overall efficiency of the power conversion system and reduce energy losses, especially in high – power – consumption applications1.
  • Control Interface: Usually has a specific control interface to receive trigger signals and control commands. For example, the trigger signal is often transmitted through an optical fiber to the GCT unit to ensure reliable and high – speed signal transmission and accurate control of the module’s operation1.
