Foxboro FCP270
Product Description
The Foxboro FCP270 is a distributed, optionally fault – tolerant, field – mounted controller module. It is designed to play a crucial role in process automation systems, being an integral part of the Foxboro Evo process automation system architecture. This architecture offers a flexible and scalable platform suitable for controlling a diverse range of industrial processes.
The FCP270 is responsible for performing various important functions. It undertakes regulatory, logic, timing, and sequential control in conjunction with connected fieldbus modules. Additionally, it is in charge of data acquisition, as well as alarm detection and notification. It connects to the mesh control network through a standard fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet, enabling seamless data transfer and communication within the system.

The fault – tolerant version of the FCP270 consists of two processor modules. These modules are installed in adjacent FCP270 slots in a supported FCP270 baseplate. This setup allows for high – speed communication between the modules, enhancing the overall reliability and performance of the control system, especially in critical applications where uninterrupted operation is essential.
Packaged in a rugged, die – cast aluminum housing, the FCP270 is designed to withstand harsh industrial environments. Its efficient design eliminates the need for venting. It has obtained CE certification and can be mounted without the requirement for expensive special cabinets to prevent electronic emissions. Moreover, it is suitable for installation in class G3 harsh environments, making it highly adaptable to different industrial settings.
