GE UR9CH

Product Description

The GE UR9CH is a CPU module belonging to the UR series of universal relays by General Electric. It serves as a crucial component in providing the necessary logic frameworks and computing power for the overall system operation within the UR universal relay setup.

This module is designed to work in harmony with other components of the UR system. It interfaces with CT/VT (Current Transformer/Voltage Transformer) modules, automatically establishing the current and voltage input and output parameters without the need for manual user intervention. The UR9CH also plays a significant role in processing and determining the parameters collected by the CT/VT modules, ensuring accurate and reliable operation of the relay system.
The UR9CH comes with specific communication capabilities. It is equipped with an RS485 interface, which is widely used in industrial settings for its reliable data transmission over relatively long distances. Additionally, it features a 10Base – F Ethernet interface. The 10Base – F Ethernet allows for high – speed data transfer, facilitating seamless communication with other network – connected devices. This enables the module to exchange data with various systems, such as supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or other intelligent devices in an industrial network.

However, it should be noted that when using the UR9CH, compatibility with other modules is crucial. Since it is an older CPU model, it must be paired with CT/VT modules from the old series, such as 8A, 8B, 8C, or 8D. Mismatching a new CT/VT module with the UR9CH may lead to display errors or hardware mismatch error indications.

Product Parameters

  • Communication Interfaces:
    • RS485: Supports reliable serial communication in industrial environments, suitable for multi – drop connections and relatively long – distance data transmission.
    • 10Base – F Ethernet: Operates at a data rate of 10 Mbps. It uses fiber – optic cables for transmission, providing immunity to electromagnetic interference, which is beneficial in noisy industrial settings.
  • Compatibility:
    • Compatible with old – series CT/VT modules (8A, 8B, 8C, 8D). Incompatible with new CT/VT modules, and using them together may cause system errors.
  • Power Requirements:
    • Operates on a specific DC voltage. Although the exact value isn’t provided in common sources, it is designed to be powered by the standard power supply within the UR universal relay system, which is likely to be a stable DC voltage source, typically in the range common for industrial control modules, such as 24 VDC or 48 VDC.
