The MOTOROLA MVME5500 – 0161 is a VMEbus single – board computer crafted by Motorola. Launched in the early 2000s, it was engineered for diverse industrial automation applications. It has found extensive use in areas such as distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
This module is built around the PowerPC MPC 7450 processor, which runs at a clock speed of 1 GHz. It comes equipped with 512 kb of on – chip L2 cache and 2 MB of L3 cache, enabling efficient data processing and storage. The board features two banks of soldered flash memory, along with dual independent 64 – bit PCI buses and PMC (Peripheral Mezzanine Card) sites.
