The ABB PFTL 101B – 2.0kN is a shear beam load cell designed for web tension measurement in various industrial applications, such as paper machines, converting lines, and textile production lines4. It is based on the Pressductor® technology2. The transducer consists of a stack of specially treated laminates, forming the measuring body2. When subjected to a mechanical force in the measurement direction, the propagation of the magnetic field changes, inducing an alternating voltage in the secondary winding, which is then converted into a DC voltage proportional to the applied force by the control unit2. It has a stainless – steel construction and is available in both standard and acid – resistant versions4. The load cell has no particular correct orientation and can be installed in the most suitable orientation for the application2.
