Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 PowerFlex 525 AC Drive, 1.5 kW / 2 Hp, 480 V Three-Phase

Product Overview

The Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 is a compact three-phase adjustable frequency AC drive from the PowerFlex 525 family, rated for 380...480 V AC input, 4.0 A continuous output current and 1.5 kW (2.0 Hp) in both normal-duty and heavy-duty service. In practical terms, the drive takes a fixed-frequency industrial supply and converts it into a variable voltage and frequency output, so an ordinary three-phase induction motor can be started smoothly, run at exactly the speed the process requires and stopped under control instead of being switched directly across the line. Because the 25B-D4P0N104 delivers that rating in Frame A, it provides full 2 Hp performance from one of the smallest footprints in the PowerFlex 520 series, which matters both in crowded control panels and in machine-mounted enclosures. What distinguishes the Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 from a basic inverter is how much capability is built into the standard unit. Embedded dual-port EtherNet/IP, USB programming, an RS-485 port with Modbus RTU, seven digital inputs, analog and relay I/O, a built-in brake IGBT and Safe Torque Off certified to PLd / SIL 2 Category 3 all come as standard, so no option cards are required for the majority of networked machine applications. A removable control core allows the drive logic to be configured on the bench while the power module is already wired in the cabinet, which shortens commissioning considerably. In the wider automation architecture, the Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 serves as both a general-purpose drive and a migration target. It is the documented replacement for the legacy PowerFlex 40 catalog 22B-D4P0N104, it integrates natively into Studio 5000 and Connected Components Workbench throug

Main Features and Advantages

Embedded EtherNet/IP and fast commissioning: The Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 carries dual-port EtherNet/IP on board, so drives can be daisy-chained without an external switch and addressed directly from a Logix controller or a Connected Components Workbench project. The USB port lets a technician plug a laptop straight into the drive for configuration, parameter backup and firmware update, eliminating the dedicated programming cables that older drives required. A removable control core means power and motor wiring can be terminated and tested while the intelligence is still on the bench.

Motor control performance: The 25B-D4P0N104 supports V/Hz, sensorless vector control, closed-loop velocity vector control with encoder feedback, permanent magnet motor control and, from firmware revision 7.001, synchronous reluctance motor control. Sensorless vector mode delivers substantially better low-speed torque than plain V/Hz, which is what allows a conveyor or mixer to hold speed under a changing load without an encoder. With a 0.98 displacement power factor and 80 W typical losses, the drive also draws cleaner current from the supply than an uncorrected six-pulse converter.

Integrated safety and braking: Safe Torque Off is built in and certified to PLd / SIL 2 Category 3, removing rotational power from the motor without dropping control power, so a machine recovers quickly after an e-stop or interlock event rather than going through a full restart. A brake IGBT is included as standard, so deceleration energy can be absorbed by an external resistor without buying a separate chopper module.

Compact and serviceable design: Frame A construction, Zero Stacking™ mounting up to 45 °C, integral keypad with potentiometer and LED display, and comprehensive fault diagnostics make the Allen-Bradley 25B-D4P0N104 straightforward to install, commission and troubleshoot in dense panels.
