WOODWARD 8200-1312

Product Name

WOODWARD 8200 – 1312 505 XT Digital Governor Control Module

Product Description

The WOODWARD 8200 – 1312 is a highly advanced and user – configurable digital governor control module, specifically designed for steam turbines. It is part of the next – generation 505 XT series, building on the well – established and reliable 505 platform that has been trusted globally.

This module features an integrated graphical front – panel Human – Machine Interface (HMI) screen with multilingual support, including Chinese. This makes it extremely convenient for operators worldwide to use, diagnose, and control the system. The large screen enables easy navigation, allowing for an icon – based view of parameters and performance. Real – time trending data can be locally viewed by both operators and engineers, providing valuable insights into the turbine’s operation.

It also comes with a graphic steam map that displays the current operating point, which is particularly useful for extraction and admission processes. The ability to configure tag names simplifies the identification of connections. An internal “turbine simulator” is integrated, which is valuable for off – line training and advanced testing before any system changes are made.

In terms of communication, it offers Ethernet connectivity, which allows seamless connection to the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS), service tools, and RemoteView operator control panels. Distributed I/O (LinkNet – HT) is supported, enabling expanded control over additional turbine package equipment during startup and operation. It also has CANOpen actuator connectivity for Woodward Varistroke actuators and DSLC – II power management networks.
The 8200 – 1312 incorporates intelligent and adaptive control algorithms. It offers next – generation advanced load rejection performance, has 3 critical speed avoidance bands, and includes reverse rotation sensing with an alarm function. The OptiTune adaptive PID technology ensures optimal turbine performance setup, while the acceleration PID limits overshoots, leading to a stable and efficient plant startup. It also has high – speed data logs that monitor turbine operation and stress, including run – time and first – out trip information. Additionally, it can support vibration monitoring for protection and control when used with the sensor kit 8928 – 7482.

This module is suitable for marine applications and ATEX Zone 2 hazardous locations. It operates on a low – voltage 18 – 36 VDC power input, enhancing safety and reducing power consumption. It can be used as a drop – in upgrade for existing 505 legacy steam turbine governor controls with item number 9907 – 167, and a convenient old 505E to new 505 XT retrofit wiring kit (5404 – 1801) is available.
